Industrial Steel Welding, Certificate of Career Preparation

The Certificate of Career Preparation in Industrial Steel Welding is designed to provide comprehensive occupational training in welding methods currently used in the structural steel industry. Students will be taught entry level skills and the technical knowledge required to operate shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and flux cord arc welding (FCAW) systems, along with oxyacetylene and plasma arc cutting equipment. They will be prepared for certification testing in AWS D1.1 Structural Steel code. The program also provides continuing education for those already employed as welders and to other professions related to welding technology.
Program Outcomes
- Apply knowledge of codes, standards, and specifications for the purposes of inspecting and testing welds.
