Successful completion of the Career Preparatory Certificate in Education will prepare the student to enter a career in education as support staff, and will provide an excellent foundation upon which to further the student’s education toward becoming a teacher. Students will learn about child development, brain development, how to support the education and socio-emotional development of children from diverse backgrounds and how to support children who have experienced trauma in their lives. Students will complete Infant/Child/Adult CPR and First Aid training, and California State Mandated Reporter certification, as part of this program. This certificate prepares students to serve in TK-12 schools as educational support staff, and helps prepare those who want to further their education to become teachers.
Program Outcomes
- Examine the process of child development in a diverse society and how it impacts a child’s education.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of providing appropriate guidance and educational support for students.
