FST 099 - Big Rig Technician

Description: This course meets/exceeds requirements listed in National Fire Protection Association, NFPA, 1006 (2017 ed.) for vehicle rescue-technician level. This 24 hour program will provide classroom and practical training to a standardized approach to commercial vehicle accidents with a primary focus separating the commercial vehicle from the passenger vehicles. This class is offered as pass/no pass.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Demonstrate the knowledge and use of the 5 Step systematic approach when confronted with a commercial/heavy vehicle incident.
Demonstrate the knowledge and use of vehicle extrication tools and techniques.
Demonstrate the knowledge and use of stabilizing techniques for both commercial/heavy vehicles and passenger vehicles.
