ADS 150 - Practicum for Alcohol and Drug Studies I


Credits: 3

Prerequisite: Completion of at least 27 units of the ADS program
Description: This course is the first part of a supervised fieldwork practicum that actively involves students at a supervised chemical dependency service site. Students apply and integrate the values, knowledge, and skills learned in the classroom through direct, hands-on experience in the area of alcohol and drug counseling. Special attention is given to individual, group, and family counseling.

  1. Apply knowledge gained in ADS coursework in a therapeutic setting.
  2. Evaluate the application of the 12 core functions of an alcohol and drug counselor.
